The game is afoot in Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective

The game is afoot in Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective

BBC's Sherlock is back! Well, not yet. But the swirling rumours definitely are!

If you're a fan of the Benedict Cumberbatch / Martin Freeman hit duo and you live local to Cardiff, chances are you'll have slowly walked past a few lighting rigs and a suspicious-looking catering van in anywhere from Cardiff Bay to Cathays.

The show is known to film around Cardiff, and when it returns in January 2017 we'll all be looking for glimpses of the city.

But what if we can't wait that long? What if we need more of 'Sherlock's mind palace' way before January of next year?

It seems, my dear boy, that short of holding the writers hostage and forcing them to give us an exclusive screening, your best bet for getting 'Sherlocked' is...

Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective.

At your service, ma'am!

FYI: We don't mean the video game, as cool as that looks.

This well-loved family board game takes Sherlock back to its Conan Doyle roots, back to Victorian London and away from Cardiff's Chippy Lane on a Saturday night.

In Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective, the game can be played solo or with up to eight players, making it the elementary board game for friends or family.

Although I'm calling it a board game, there's no such playing board or pieces. Instead, the game components are made up of beautifully-crafted and realistic booklets full of mysteries and scenarios to be solved.

There's a period newspaper for you to search for clues in, a map of nineteenth century London, and a London Directory that looks WAY COOLER than your standard Yellow Pages!

Your task is to leaf through the ancient pages, stuffed full of clues, and work together to solve the mysteries, one at a time.

Why were two lions murdered in Hyde Park? Who is responsible for the missing paintings from the National Gallery? Who murdered Oswald Mason and why?

As you play the Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective board game, you and your friends will find yourself morphing into the genius minds of Sherlock and Dr Watson, taking it in turns to belittle and support each other emotionally. Hey, isn't the show great?

The game can last between an hour to two hours, because who ever said solving crimes was easy? Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective is a cooperative board game, and asks players to work together in a mystery-solving team.

Want a game-play video? Shut Up & Sit Down has obliged.

Fancy some enthusiastic reviews? There's no shortage of them!

So, what are you waiting for? There are mysteries to be solved! Crimes to be skewered, and criminals to be found!
