Board Games to Play This Mother's Day!

On Sunday March 6th, gamers across the globe will put down their dice, pick up some flowers, and celebrate their lovely Mams. Or Mums. (But Mam is better). Famously, mothers love to destroy their children at any kind of game or sport, so give her what she really wants - board games!

For more Mother's Day board games, see our whole Mother's Day collection!

1. Tokaido - 2-5 players, 45 minutes, £40

Beautiful, quiet and peaceful, Tokaido sees each player become a traveller crossing the "East sea road", one of the most magnificent roads of Japan. While travelling, you will meet people, taste fine meals, collect beautiful items, discover great panoramas, and visit temples and wild places - but who will discover the most interesting things? After all those family holidays, pay Mam back with a trip of her own! In board game form, admittedly...

2. Skull - 3-6 players, 45 minutes, £15

Finally back in stock, Skull is the Queen of bluffing games! Each player plays a face-down card, then each player in turn adds one more card – until someone feels safe enough to state that he can turn a number of cards face up and get only roses with no deadly skulls! Play this as a family and discover how brilliant your Mam is at lying (and how well she knows when you're not telling the truth).

3. Alhambra - 2-6, 60 minutes, £25

In Alhambra, players attempt to become the best master builders in the whole of Europe and Arabia, demonstrating their skills and building the beautiful Alhambra. You have to employ the most suitable teams of builders and make sure that you always have enough of the right currency. Strategy and fixing things are skills a lot of mothers possess, so skip the cheap chocolates and give her the gift of a much-loved game with Alhambra!
