The Big Smoke. If you're a Londoner (or someone who makes fun of Londoners), then have I got the perfect game for you! Currently being funded on Kickstarter - and surpassing its goal by thousands of pounds with 12 days still to go! - Londoners is an ironically hip new board game from Stef Wilkerson and Olly Lawder. In it, you can choose to play as nine London stereotypes that you'll have definitely heard of... There's the Yummy Mummies, obsessed with kale, the Cabbies ("Them Uber drivers should be shot!"), the Police, the Hipsters, the Bankers and more. Having spent a little time in the city myself (I'm incredibly cultured), I can report back and tell you that all these caricatures definitely exist. Once you've chosen your team, you'll then fight for control of the whole city. Wait, what?! Describing itself as a new take on Risk, each player has their own missions to conquer while they attack each other's regions. It's easy to see why Londoners is so popular already, but I'm terribly disappointed we don't yet have one for Cardiff! But then, maybe we're all so wonderfully unique that we defy characterisation. Yeah, that's it.

The Little City. From London to southwest France now, for a tour of the castle that inspired one of the best-selling board games of the past decade - Carcassonne! Somebody has helpfully decided to blog about their trip to the famous citadel, and taken some pictures so you can see exactly what your favourite game was based on. Showing off the core inspiration of games is a fun but risky activity - sure, it's fine for Carcassonne, or Ticket to Ride, but I do NOT wanna see the basis for Kittens in a Blender. Nope, nope, nope. To read about this guy's trip to the city, and see some brilliant photos, click here!

Halloween House of Horrrooorrrrrr! With Halloween just a week or so away, we chose the top 3 best board games for the occasion, all set in haunted dwellings! So if you're the kind of scaredy-cat who's not up for real-life zombie runs or monster missions, you can play pretend and STILL feel kind of frightened! It's a real Halloween treat!

Cakes & Laboratories. In case you missed it, Portal: The Uncooperative Cake Acquisition Game, was this week's featured 'hot new release'! If you wanna see what kinda game requires that kinda name, check out our blog post and see for yourself! This truly exceptional piece of madness is building a buzz for itself, and there's not a soggy bottom in sight!

Our Board Game Party was a huge success! To celebrate making Cardiff's Mondays awesome for 1 whole year, we threw an anniversary/birthday/get drunk & play games party on Monday 19th October, at Urban Tap House! We're so, so pleased to say that 118 people turned up to celebrate with us! Our evil quiz was fun - kudos to Will Jones for winning it (by himself!). Plus, our raffle prize haul went down a treat, with awesome stuff like 2 copies of Obama Llama (kindly donated by Big Potato Games!), Mysterium, Mafia de Cuba, the Minecraft card game, glow in the dark meeples & meeple earrings (kindly donated by Tinkerbot Games!), and a bunch of vouchers and beers and bottles of wine. Yum!

If you'd like to see our quiz questions (and those all-important answers) click here to see our post within the Facebook event.
