Apocalypse Now: Family Edition
When the apocalypse hits, we have to be prepared for all eventualities. If that means sawing off my brother's infected zombie arm with an axe, then so be it. What's that? He wasn't bitten? I'm gonna saw it off anyway. To ready yourself for doom, practise your techniques with these apocalyptic board games, brilliant for Christmas day fun with the whole family!
1. Pandemic - 2-4 players, 45 minutes, £30
Four diseases have broken out in the world and it is up to a team of specialists in various fields to find cures for these diseases before mankind is wiped out! In Pandemic players must work together, playing to their characters’ strengths and planning their strategy of eradication before the diseases overwhelm the world with ever-increasing outbreaks. But the diseases are out-breaking fast and time is running out: the team must try to stem the tide of infection in diseased areas while also towards cures! Pandemic is a truly cooperative game where you all win or you all lose.
2. Dead of Winter - 2-5 players, 100 minutes, £50
Dead of Winter is a meta-cooperative psychological survival game. This means players are working together toward one common victory condition — but for each individual player to achieve victory, he must also complete his personal secret objective. In this frozen zombie wasteland, you'll need to work together in your small, weakened colony to try to survive. In Dead of Winter, your personal goal might just be the group's downfall - so think clever, and think fast!
3. The Walking Dead - 1-4 players, 45 minutes, £30
In the Walking Dead Board Game, the zombie apocalypse is here and the human race is on its last legs. As a survivor, you need to collect all the food, guns, transportation, and allies you can find - but watch out! If any of your fellow survivors get bitten, they'll turn into walkers... and turn against you. Players take on the role of Rick, Shane, Andrea or one of the other stalwart remnants of humanity as they struggle to survive while learning to live with one another - a bit like family life! Spice up your Christmas time with this undead offering from one of your favourite TV shows.
