Game of the Week - Fungi. Sometimes, you need to take a break from your traditional world saving, empire building and monster slaying. Fungi (also known as Morels) takes a far more sedate approach to gaming, pitting 2 players against each other to collect and cook the most delicious mushrooms from the sun-dappled forest floor. A charming and beautiful game with surprising depth and a delicious theme, Fungi is not to be missed if you have any interest in 2 player clever little card games. A Dominion For Dr. Who? The big gaming news of the week is that Donald X Vaccarino, designer of the amazing Dominion is designing a new game for Rio Grande. Little is known about Temporum so far, but in the game, players to take on the role of time travellers attempting to shape history. Watch this space for more details!

The Resistance Expands. Indie Boards & Cards have announced two new expansions for their smash hit Resistance. Hostile Intent and Hidden Agenda are on Kickstarter now, and should be on the shelves here at Rules of Play later in the year. For those interested in how Kickstarter has helped to influence our favourite hobby, The Escapist has a great article on how Alien Frontiers helped change the attitude to crowdfunding and boardgames.

Gaming At The Urban Taphouse. We'll be back at Cardiff's trendiest watering hole, the fabulous Urban Taphouse for an evening of gaming on Monday 11th August. Entry is £2 for the night, with all money raised going straight to Ty Hafan and Diabetes UK  so come along for some great beers, great games and a great cause. See you there!

X-Wing / Netrunner Summer Tournaments. We're be taking part in Fantasy Flights Summer 2014 tournaments for some of the most popular games out there. On August 15th we'll be inviting Corps and Runners to pit their wits against each other in Netrunner, while on September 7th we'll be giving Rebels and Imperials the chance to fight it out in Star Wars: X-Wing.
