Game of the Week – Star Wars: Age of Rebellion. Free RPG Day. We’re having an unapologetically roleplaying-focused Friday Rules this week. Partly this is because we’re all really excited for this year’s Free RPG Day, which we’ll be running at Rules of Play on Sunday 21st June. So, whether you’re a veteran of countless campaigns or just want to dip your toes into the wonderful world of RPGs, come along for a chance to free your imagination and have loads of fun.

Indie RPGs Inbound! Arriving in time for Free RPG Day, we have a horde of exciting new indie RPG books freshly on the shelves. The Thoughts of a Strategy Master. Philip Sabin is a Professor of Strategic Studies at Kings College London. As part of his studies, Professor Sabin makes extensive use of wargames to simulate historical conflicts and dilemmas.Author of a number of excellent books highly recommended for anyone with an interest in history, military conflict or wargaming, Rock Paper Shotgun have reviewed his most recent book, Simulating War, which is very high on our reading lists!
A Heartfelt Request for Re-Release. TheTabletop section of the Escapist is rapidly becoming one of our favourite websites covering boardgames. A recent feature which brought back many nostalgic memories (ok, so we’ve been playing boardgames for a long time) was John Keefer’s article on classic Avalon Hill games deserving of a modern reprint.
Gaming to Help the Homeless. This Sunday,Llamau are hosting their Big Game Night at theEmbassy Cafe in Cathays. Running from 6:30pm until 11:30pm, there will be loads of boardgames to run, with entry costing only £4, with all proceeds going to Llamau’s work fighting youth homelessness in Wales.
