New Games For Old Hats This Christmas

If you're something of a board game connoisseur with an impressive collection already, you might be looking for the coolest new thing to try this Christmas. There's nothing wrong with a trusty old Dixit or Carcassonne, but if you're after something new, fresh, and hot off the press, we've got just the ticket.

1. The Big Book of Madness - 2-5 players, 90 minutes, £30

Arrived at Rules of Play: November 30th 2015

The Big Book of Madness is a formidable co-operative game in which the players are magic apprentices who must act together to turn all the pages of the mad magic book, then shut it by defeating the terrible monsters they've just released. Spells allow you to support your playmates, improve your deck, draw cards, etc. — but the monsters from the book fight back. Each comes with terrible curses that are triggered every turn unless you dispel them in time. They will make you discard elements, add madness cards to your deck, or lose spells... If you manage to turn six pages and defeat all of the monsters, you win the game!

2. Welcome to the Dungeon - 2-4 players, 30 minutes, £10

Arrived at Rules of Play: November 18th 2015

Welcome to the Dungeon is a push-your-luck style dungeon crawler in which players take turns daring each other to go into the spooky dungeon with less and less equipment while also filling the dungeon with monsters. Players can win the game by winning 2 rounds or get eliminated from the game by losing 2 rounds. Easy and straight forward rules will have you playing in minutes, and the games small size means its great for travelling, so you can always get your dungeon exploration buzz wherever you are!

3. Rory's Story Cubes: Batman - 1-12 players, 10 minutes, £12

Arrived at Rules of Play: September 14th 2015

In Rory's Story Cubes, players roll the dice to show various symbols and use them to form the basis of a story - you can be as wacky and as weird as you like! In Rory's Story Cubes: Batman, you can create your own Batman sagas. It could be that the joker has escaped or that batman has been trapped in a dangerous trap and has to escape but the stories are up to you and the dice and they always expand your creativity beyond your wildest imaginations! As usual, these can be fully integrated with the other Rory's Story Cubes sets.
