Game of the Week – Caverna. Better make sure you pack your beard comb – you're the hairy leader of a dwarf family and you're off on a mountain adventure! Of sorts... In this game, between 1 and 7 players mine ore and ruby, all the while searching for water resources. You also want little caves to grow your babies in, and little caves for all your small businesses - not a big ask! Not only that, but you're a farmer too, whenever you can crawl out of the caves and on to dry land! The winner is whoever hasn't been lost deep in the mountain and has the biggest, best and most efficiently developed piece of real estate, mountain style. Check out some awesome reviews with Shut Up and Sit Down and The Dice Tower!

In A Galaxy... That Keeps Releasing Games... You guessed it - another Star Wars game is descending from a black backdrop full of stars in the not-so-distant future! Imperial Assault, 'a Star Wars board game of cinematic adventure and tactical combat for two to five players', hurls you and friends into a time just after the Death Star's destruction. You must assemble teams and battle each other to the death! The game comes as an unofficial package, carrying two games in one: the first is the campaign game for all the players that uses a narrative with linked missions, while the second is the skirmish game, where you and a friend engage in one-on-one combat. You've Got a Role-Playing Friend in Me! Ever been in the midst of a role-playing session then looked around and wished you had, er... better company? Better company with a bit of pizazz? Better company with a bit of pizazz who actually have a bloody clue what they're doing?! For some Game Masters in role playing, the struggle can be cautious friends, distracted players and people who don't take the game as seriously as they do. If you're a frustrated leader, then give this article on The Escapist a read for tips on being the best Game Master you can be and eliminating 'bad role-playing behaviours' in the nicest way possible.

A Ruined Manor in Phandalin :)

On That Note... It's all very well having a reformed and brilliant group of role-players but unless you've got the right base to work with, you'll be back to square one in no time! Luckily, Tact-Tiles is back, and bigger than ever baby! After being unavailable to buy for seven years (!) a new Kickstarter has been launched to get the handy role-playing board back into the world. The tiles are both wet and dry-erase pen friendly, fit together like a blank puzzle canvas and offer a much sturdier alternative to playing on paper napkins! Check out more details here, and see the Kickstarter for yourself here - you could even pledge and secure your OWN copy!

This Sunday is Family Games Day! We'll be playing a huge range of games that vary from age 3 up to 'mam and dad' age, so no one feels left out! Find out more on our Facebook event page - we can't wait!

We're back on Monday 8th September with Gaming @ The Gate for our usual dose of 'making bad game moves while slightly inebriated'! We'll have our regular piles and piles of games with us, but give us a heads up if you have any ideas of different games to bring! And keep checking our event page for more specific news closer to the time!
